Road race — Mt. Hood CC hosts a 5K fun run Sunday morning

A 5-kilometer road race has been added to the Mt. Hood Jazz festival this year.

The road race, sponsored by Portland Adventist Elementary School, will take a loop through the Mt. Hood Community College campus with a start time of 9 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 17. Entry is $15 if registered by the Saturday, Aug. 9 deadline or $20 after that date.

In other racing news, the Hood-to-Coast Relay will make its 27th running Friday and Saturday, Aug. 22-23.

The first wave of runners will leave Mt. Hood’s Timberline Lodge at 8 a.m. Friday with the race following through Highway 26 in Sandy and the Springwater Trail through Gresham. The 12-person teams will cover 197 miles before hitting the finish line in Seaside.
