Brian Heinze resigned as the principal of Sandy High School last week after two years on the job.
The Sandy Post was unable to reach Heinze for comment. And neither Heinze nor the district disclosed the reason for his departure.
A statement released by the Oregon Trail School District thanked Heinze for his accomplishments, noting that during his time as principal 70 percent more students took advanced placement classes, discipline referrals decreased by 40 percent and tardiness decreased by 40 percent.
Aaron Bayer, who joined the district in May 2008 as a vice principal, will serve as the interim principal at the high school for the 2009-10 school year.
“I am committed to ensuring a smooth transition and keeping the lines of communication open as we make our way,” district Superintendent Shelley Redinger said in the statement. “I am confident the community will join me in welcoming Mr. Bayer to his new role and support him as he takes on this new venture.”
Bayer, whose duties included being the school’s activities director, is looking forward to the challenges his new job will offer.
