At least 35 agents from at least 13 different real estate offices around the Sandy area have joined forces to host one massive open house this weekend.
The Sandy Open House will welcome potential homebuyers to at least 54 homes across town from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, May 4.
Prudential NW Properties’ Bonnie Drake, the organizer behind the event, said cooperation is good for everyone.
Drake recently participated in a similar event in Colton, which offered two-dozen homes from just as many agents in the 4,000-person community.
“It was very good, very positive,” Drake said, noting that the event generated several offers that day. “People are more drawn out to rural areas when there’s a bigger event going on, and people within the community came to the open houses, too.”
She reasoned that the experience in Colton could be duplicated here in Sandy, and rallied her colleagues.
All properties in the giant open house will be marked, and at each house, attendees will be able to find a complete listing of the other participating homes. (That list also is included in the sidebar.)
The goal of the event, Drake says, is to get as many potential homebuyers as possible into the streets to see what’s available in Sandy.
“I don’t think the market is as bad as the media makes it out to be,” Drake said. “It’s a good time to buy, interest rates are good, and there are plenty of houses to pick from. I think we have to create some excitement within the community, and this is a good way to do that.”

Think of it this way... if you were to pick up our paper yesterday (Tuesday, May 6), you would have read that story. We post our stories once a week and as big news breaks. We're not a daily; instead, our Web presence is a reflection of our printed product. Thanks for the concern, though!
