Former Sandy resident Donald A. Brouillette, 53, died Tuesday, July 21, at his home in Klamath Falls.
A memorial service was held Thursday, July 23, in Klamath Falls at his brother Tony’s home.
Donald was born Oct. 14, 1955, in Glendale, Calif., to Larry and Mary Brouillette.
On June 8, 1974, he married Karen Huntsinger in California. They moved to Oregon in 1980, and then later divorced.
Donald spent most of his adult life as a Journeyman meat cutter, working in and owning his own butcher shop. He loved flying, fishing, hunting, camping, spending time on his property near the Sprague River, music and spending time with his family. He was a supporter of Ducks Unlimited and enjoyed every opportunity he had to be outdoors.
Survivors include his sons, Donald L. Brouillette of Grants Pass and Tyler Brouillette of Orangevale, Calif.; daughters, Heidi Simpson of Grants Pass and Lisa York of Sandy; mother, Mary Brouillette of Klamath Falls; father, Larry Brouillette of Gresham; three brothers of Klamath Falls; one sister of Grants Pass; and six grandchildren.

Nov. 1, 1914-July 29, 2009
Former Sandy resident Cora Anna Barr, 94, died Wednesday, July 29, in Oregon City.
A private graveside service will be held at Redland Pioneer Cemetery in Redland.
Cora was born Nov. 1, 1914, in Holcombe, Wis., to Earl Belose Ellenburger and Gertrude Theresa Boles.
Cora married James Barr, who preceded her in death. She was a homemaker and raised her family in the Corbett, Gresham, Boring and Sandy areas.
Survivors include her sons, John Strowbridge of Redland, David Barr of Maupin, Frank Curtis of Lebanon and Emmit Curtis of Ellendale, N.D.; daughter, Elsie Morrow of Oregon City; brothers, Glen Ellenburger and Hobart Ellenburger, both of Bellingham, Wash.; 20 grandchildren; and 32 great-grandchildren.

Former Welches resident Steve Alan Konell, 53, died Friday, July 31, at his home in Troutdale after a battle with cancer.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 10, at Good Shepherd Community Church, 28986 S.E. Haley Road, Boring.
Steve was born Nov. 7, 1955, in Portland to Russell and LuRee Konell. Steve began his schooling at Lynch and Marysville grade schools. The family moved to Welches when Steve was 9 years old and he graduated from Sandy High School, where he played basketball and football. He then attended Clackamas Community College, studying forestry and playing basketball.
After college, Steve worked for Don Obrist Excavating for 10 years before starting Konell Construction. Since 1981, Steve had been the owner and president of the Sandy-based company, which is known for its environmentally friendly construction practices. Konell Construction has been involved with the construction of residential and commercial projects in the Sandy, Gresham and Troutdale areas. Its projects included the Sandy High School baseball fields, Sandy Historical Museum, Sandy Market Place, the Mount Hood Forest Service building, Mt. Hood Industrial Park, Wasson Brothers Winery, Suburban Ford and Chevrolet and Janz Berryland. The company has won many awards for green building, and its company motto was “Using the Past to Build the Future.”
Under Steve, Konell also supported numerous organizations and events including Music in Meinig, Sandy High School, Sandy Kiwanis, Sandy Softball, the Sandy Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Sandy Future Farmers of America, the Special Olympics of Oregon, Oregon Food Bank, Union Gospel Mission and the YMCA. It also sponsored ski teams, moto-cross, golf tournaments and overseas missions.
Steve enjoyed nature and the outdoors and traveling. He had a passion for motorcycle racing, which he began at age 6, and for bow hunting, fishing, playing basketball, NASCAR, his Harley and snowmobiling. His theory was to forget the schedule because he had his own time frame and agenda.
He was divorced.
Survivors include his son, Kyle Konell; daughter, Karha Konell; father, Russell Konell; mother, LuRee Vaughn; brothers, Jack Konell, Mitch Konell and Jeff Konell; and sister, Ronda Kapule.
