The hunt for Sasquatch Jr., the smaller version of the hairy humanoid that has captured the imagination of the Sandy Mountain Festival, has intensified as treasure hunters and mystery buffs scour hiding places from Government Camp to Boring to find the furry fellow.
“People are calling day and night,” reported Yeti, Sasquatch Jr.’s cousin. “But I really don’t know where he’s hiding. If I did, wouldn’t I find him and collect the reward?”
That reward — given to the lucky person who brings him to the office of the Sandy Post at 17333 Strauss Ave. — is a crisp $100 bill and a year’s free subscription to the newspaper.
Officials with the Sandy Mountain Festival hold out hope that somebody will quickly find Sasquatch Jr.
“We’re getting close to the festival, and we really want him there,” said the festival’s most popular participant, the Dancing Bear. “Sasquatch is enjoying his appearances with the Sasquatch Sightings (see Keeping Posted on Page 2A), but it would be so much better if Sasquatch Jr. were around.”
Sasquatch Jr. went missing about a week ago when he went into hiding after feeling left out of the pre-festival fun. Yeti reported then that he is somewhere within the boundaries of the Oregon Trail School District, he’s inside with heat and air conditioning and that he’s close to food.
Yeti now reports that more details have surfaced that might help searchers locate her cousin. In a postcard sent to Yeti, Sasquatch Jr. said he’s enjoying pizza with all the fixins’ and getting his fill of coffee. He also reportedly found an unidentified helper to trim his nails.
If you’re the lucky person who finds Sasquatch Jr., call Sandy Post reporter Garth Guibord at 503-668-5548 to set up an appointment to receive your prizes. Guibord also will ask you some questions about your search and how you located the hairy little critter. Your prowess in locating Sasquatch Jr. will appear in the Sandy Post.
